The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir is the sort of remarkable organization that often forms the basis for inspirational movies. The members are anonymous, untrained, and sincere individuals, members of a small church in inner-city New York--inspired, passionate voices who come together to create a rich, hallowed sound. The director, Carol Cymbala, is wife to the pastor and together they inherited a congregation numbering in the double digits in the early-1970s and built it into a thriving flock featuring a world-renowned choir.
The Brooklyn Tabernacle is at its finest on live recordings; «This is your house» is their seventh live offering, and with good reason, the live atmosphere captures the heart and soul which permeates every entreaty to God. There is an incredible and refreshing earnestness throughout the record. This heart-on-the-sleeve sentiment is best exemplified on a spoken track of testimony by member Danny Velasco, where he addresses his fellow members with an informal greeting and proceeds to talk about initially seeing the story of "some guy who died on a cross 2,000 years ago" as "fantasy" before his ultimate conversion. Le B.T.C. est le type d'organistion remarquable, qui constitue souvent la base pour les films d'inspiration. Les membres sont anonymes, non formés et des individus sincères (membres d'une petite église du centre-ville de New York), voix inspirées et passionnées qui se réunissent pour créer un son riche et sanctifié. Le directeur Carol Cymbala est la femme du Pasteur, et ensemble ils ont hérité d'une congrégation de numérotation à 2 chiffres au début des années 1970, et y ont construit une chorale de renom.
Le B.T.C. est à son meilleur en enregistrement live ; "This is your house" (Ceci est votre maison) est leur 7ème album live, et avec raison, l'ambiance live saisit le coeur et l'âme, imprègnant toutes les prières à Dieu. Il y a une vivacité incroyable et rafraîchissante tout le long. Ce sentiment s'exprime au mieux lors du témoignage de Danny Velasco, dans lequel il s'adresse à ses collègues avec une salutation informelle et poursuit en parlant de l'histoire «d'un gars qui est mort sur une croix il y a 2000 ans» comme "fantastique" avant sa transformation ultime. Ce type d'esprit authentique coule à travers l'incroyable orchestral des chants. Cet album est un bon exemple de la raison pour laquelle le B.T.C. est aussi célèbre.
